Please find below our call for scholarship applications. The Off The Beaten Track program, with 12 years and 24 editions on its counter, now is the longest standing cultural anthropology field school in the world.This year we are proud to make the program more accessible due to a sizable scholarship fund.
\nWe primarily rely on word of mouth communication about our program, so it is of great help to us if you would share this information with students and anyone else who may be interested. We attached a .pdf brochure for easy disseminiation.

\n<\/b><\/span>Summer Field School for Anthropologists and Social Scientists

\nSCHOLARSHIP CALL<\/b><\/span>
\nThis call is aimed at budding researchers with creative and open minds towards the challenges of applied research. We offer a unique learning opportunity in a multidisciplinary research project on the isle of Gozo, Malta. Expeditions and the University of Leuven offer a 20.000 euro scholarship fund to cover part or all of the tuition fee for the 2018 Malta Summer School. Scholarships are granted on a competitive basis, based on a research proposal.<\/p>\n

\n<\/b>\u2022 Undergraduate and graduate students
\n\u2022 PhD students
\n\u2022 Everyone with a genuine interest in cultural anthropology
\n\u2022 Previous participants of the project<\/p>\n

Selection is not based on academic merit, originality or complexity. We aim for enthusiasm, dedication and creativity. In the past years even students who were not enrolled in an anthropology program received scholarships for the project.<\/p>\n

Selection Procedure
\n<\/b>Candidates are invited to propose two or more creative research concepts that can be built upon fieldwork performed during one session of the summer school on Gozo (Malta). From these proposals, the scholarship review board will select 15 candidates to work out a more detailed research plan within a deadline of two months (January\/February). These 15 proposals will be ranked and scholarships will be divided according to this ranking. The top ranked proposals will be granted a full scholarship, others will receive a partial scholarship. None of the scholarships include airfare from and to Malta.<\/p>\n

How can I apply for this initial selection?
\n<\/b>\u2022 Send us two or more research concepts.
\n\u2022 150-250 words per research concept.
\n\u2022 Submitting can only be done through this online form.
\n\u2022 The deadline for submissions (first stage) is January 5th, 2018.
