{"id":59,"date":"2013-05-08T23:20:48","date_gmt":"2013-05-08T23:20:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kula.si\/?p=59"},"modified":"2015-09-17T16:34:19","modified_gmt":"2015-09-17T16:34:19","slug":"5th-etnofilm-festival-hypermedia-workshoop-with-peter-biella","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kula.si\/?p=59","title":{"rendered":"5TH ETNOFILm festival: Hypermedia Workshoop with Peter Biella"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Multi media centre, Rovinj, Croatia<br \/>\n22 \u2013 24 April, 2013<br \/>\nThis fifth edition of the ETNOFILm \u2013 Festival of Ethnographic Film is organized by the Ethnographic Museum of Istria and will host professor Peter Biella as a workshop guide. The theme of this years workshop is hypermedia in anthropology and therefore we invited the pioneer in the field, professor Peter Biella, director of programme of Visual Anthropology at San Francisco State University. The workshop will focus on new visual and digital media technologies that are applied in visual anthropology.<br \/>\nPeter Biella is a pioneer in this area as he was among the first ones to use hypermedia for his projects such as Maasai Interactive and Yanomam\u00f6 Interactive. For the purposes of this workshop he will give the students a insight into a world of hypermedia through lectures and practical exercises. The workshop will last for 3 days and is limited to 20 participants. The workshop consists of three parts:<\/p>\n<p>Day 1: Peter Biella will give and introduction into hypermedia and history of hypermedia. Also he will talk about his hypermedia projects.<\/p>\n<p>Day 2: Technical issues in producing hypermedia. Peter Biella will go over four different applications &#8211; Final Cut Pro, Popcorn, Korsakow and Flash.<\/p>\n<p>Day 3: Participants will work on their own material with the help and suggestions of Peter Biella.<\/p>\n<p>This workshop will give the participants a chance to get introduced to theoretical and methodological issues in hypermedia in visual anthropology, learn how to use hypermedia as a tool for their own research, and how to develop their own expressive hypermedia projects. The workshop is open to students of anthropology and related disciplines, and to anyone interested in visual anthropological issues and film making. Previous knowledge and basic experience in visual anthropology (or other social sciences and media making) is welcome.<br \/>\nParticipants should come with their own digital media, video, audio and stills and a sketch of the media they intend to use and a diagram of how it links together. The participants on the third day should be Mac users &#8211; and should bring laptops. To prepare, they should also sign up and create their own accounts in a media application called Popcorn1; in addition, they should also have the Korsakow application downloaded on their computers2 .<br \/>\nWorkshop is limited to 20 participants, and the deadline for submission is 15th of March. Successful applicants will be notified by 22nd of March and will be asked to confirm participation by paying the registration fee. This includes lectures, work material, daily snacks, one daily meal, free participation in other festival events, free movie screenings. For all participant we are offering accommodation in the hotel and apartment. Approximate prices: 15\/20 euros per night.
